Step 1
Open Windows Live Mail on your computer.
Step 2
Right click the mailbox you want enable SSL on and select Properties.
Step 3
TheĀ Properties window will now appear, click the Servers tab and ensure that these settings are correct:
If you have a Standard mailbox you will need to use theĀ SMTP settingsĀ supplied by your internet provider.
- Incoming mail (IMAP): mail.livemail.co.uk
- Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.livemail.co.uk
Step 4
Click the Advanced tab and change the following settings:
If you have a Standard mailbox you will need to use theĀ SMTP settingsĀ supplied by your internet provider.
- Outgoing mail (SMTP): Set the number to 465.
- This server requires a secure connection (SSL): Tick this box.
- Incoming Mail: Set theĀ number to 993 for IMAP or 995 for POP.
- This server requires a secure connection (SSL): Tick this box.
Step 5
Click Apply, then OK at the bottom of the window. A notification asking if you would like to refresh your folder list will appear. Click Yes, this process will take a few minutes to complete.
Your mailbox is now set up using SSL in Windows Live Mail.
